Postbus – is a public transport bus company that operates throughout Austria, with a focus on rural and regional areas.
FlixBus – is a long-distance bus company that operates throughout Austria and Europe.
Blaguss – private bus company that operates charter and shuttle services throughout Austria and Europe.
ÖBB – official website of the Austrian Federal Railways, which provides information about train schedules, fares, and routes throughout Austria. + ÖBB SCOTTY – you can access schedule information for any type of public transport at any time in order to plan your route.
The only competitor to ÖBB is WestBahn on the Salzburg ⇔ Linz ⇔ Vienna line.
Alpen Express is a sleeper train that takes you directly from Amsterdam to Austria’s most famous ski areas in Tirol.

Vienna International Airport (map), located 18 km (11 mi) southeast of the city center. City Airport Train — non-stop airport transfer to Vienna.

For traveling to Western Austria it may make sense to fly into Munich airport. While Bratislava does not have nearly as many connections as Munich or Vienna, it is only about 70 kilometers from Vienna and there is a direct bus service.
Riverboats on the Danube include connections with Linz, Bratislava and Budapest, but are slower and more expensive than other options.
LOD — Run a fast hydrofoil between Vienna and Bratislava May–October with up to two daily departures.
Twin City Liner — A fast catamaran between Vienna and Bratislava March–December with up to four daily departures.
Mahart Passnave — Operate a fast hydrofoil between Vienna and Budapest May–October with daily departures during the peak season.
Renting a car for a couple of days is a good way to go off the beaten track. Driving in Austria is normally quite pleasant as the country is small and the roads are in good condition, not congested and offer fantastic scenery.
