Montana can be broadly categorized into two primary regions: Eastern Montana and Western Montana. The Continental Divide of the Rocky Mountains serves as the dividing line, separating the larger eastern part from the smaller western section.

In Western Montana, you’ll encounter relatively higher precipitation levels in some areas, and the landscape is predominantly mountainous, offering picturesque views like those found in Glacier National Park.

On the other hand, Eastern Montana boasts flatter terrain with scattered “island ranges” of lower mountains, intermingled with prairies and a drier climate. The region is enriched by several significant rivers, including the Missouri River and the Yellowstone River.
