Glacier National Park: This iconic national park is a gem of Montana, known for its stunning mountain scenery, crystal-clear lakes, and diverse wildlife. Visitors can explore hiking trails, go boating, and witness the breathtaking beauty of glaciers and rugged terrain.
Yellowstone National Park: Although primarily in Wyoming, a portion of Yellowstone extends into Montana. It’s famous for its geothermal wonders, including Old Faithful, hot springs, and geysers. Wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate the chance to see bison, grizzly bears, and wolves.
Big Sky Resort: Montana is renowned for its winter sports, and Big Sky Resort is a haven for skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts. In the summer, it offers activities like hiking and mountain biking, and it provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.
Montana can be broadly categorized into two primary regions: Eastern Montana and Western Montana. The Continental Divide of the Rocky Mountains serves as the dividing line, separating the larger eastern part from the smaller western section.
In Western Montana, you’ll encounter relatively higher precipitation levels in some areas, and the landscape is predominantly mountainous, offering picturesque views like those found in Glacier National Park.
On the other hand, Eastern Montana boasts flatter terrain with scattered “island ranges” of lower mountains, intermingled with prairies and a drier climate. The region is enriched by several significant rivers, including the Missouri River and the Yellowstone River.
